Remote downloading of DDD files from digital tachographs Client-side and server-side authorization
It is widely known that S8.5 and S10.5 terminals allow for remote downloading of DDD files from digital tachographs. Therefore, we would like to remind you of the methods that enable the management of the authorization process between the company card and the tachograph, which always takes place before downloading a file from a specific tachograph.
At the outset, it`s worth emphasizing thatremote downloading of DDD files using our terminals is entirely free—unburdened by any additional costs—unlike solutions offered by competing companies.
What types of authorization do we distinguish?
When it comes to the authorization method, we distinguish two solutions - client-side and server-side. Details regarding each of the solutions are provided below.
Client-side authorization
The client-side solution means that the client (the owner of the transport company, fleet manager) is responsible for the authorization in digital tachographs. For this purpose, they designate a computer in their company through which the authorization processes between the company card and the tachographs in vehicles will be carried out. Configuring the computer takes only a few minutes and is extremely simple. One needs to download the authorizing application to the computer`s disk, log in to it, connect the chip card reader, and insert the company card into it. After these steps, the computer is fully ready to perform the authorization. This is a commonly used solution, available on demand, and practically cost-free for the client.
Implementation costs
The only cost associated with the client-side solution is the purchase of the chip card reader, which is typically around 10 USD per reader. Theapplicationon the computer that facilitates the authorization process isentirely free of charge.
Server-sideauthorization
The server-side solution means that the company providing the remote download service for DDD files is responsible for the authorization process in digital tachographs, which will be carried out through the server. The server is capable of simultaneously handling up to 200 company card readers. The number of supported readers can be gradually expanded, for example, by adding another server. An advantage of this solution is certainly the fact that the client (the owner of the transport company, fleet manager) receives a remote DDD file download service that is completely hands-free. The client is only required to provide the company card to the service provider, which will be inserted into the reader connected to the server.
Implementation costs
The server-side solution is characterized by low implementation costs, which include the purchase of a server costing around 200 USD with a Linux operating system, as well as the purchase of the necessary quantity of card readers, typically priced at around 10 USD per reader.
