Live Tacho Counters

Live Tacho Counters are working time counters obtained directly from the tachograph by S8.5/S10.3/S10.5 devices. Besides being visible in the truck, they can also be accessed on the fleet administrator's computer, which can significantly improve route planning reliability and efficiency. The advantage of this solution is that data is not obtained through complicated server-side calculations, ensuring the accuracy of the presented data.

The Live Tacho Counters solution reads drivers' working time counters using the VDO Counters system from VDO/Siemens/Continental tachographs from version 2.0 onwards. In the case of Stoneridge tachographs, these counters are obtained through the DDS system, which has been added to this brand of tachographs from version 7.4. The tachograph models that allow the reading of these counters are described in the table below:

Tachographs allowing reading
VDO Counters

VDO 2.0 with enabled VDO Counter function
VDO 2.1 with enabled VDO Counter function
VDO 2.2 with enabled VDO Counter function
VDO 3.0, may require enabling remote data access in the tachograph menu
VDO 4.0
VDO 4.1

Stoneridge 7.4 with enabled DDS function
Stoneridge 7.5 with enabled DDS function
Stoneridge 7.6 with enabled DDS function
Stoneridge 8.0

What counters does LTC read?

The counters read by LTC consist of time counters, which include basic, advanced, and extended counters. In addition to counters, advanced dates are also available.

Basic time counters

driving time since the last 45-minute break/rest
cumulative break time
duration of the currently selected activity
(this parameter can provide the current break/rest time when the driver's working mode is "rest")
cumulative driving time: previous and current week

Advanced time counters:
(available only for the driver whose card is inserted in slot 1 of the tachograph)

current data, remaining current driving time
(this parameter is the maximum remaining time for the driver until the next required break or rest)
current data, remaining time until the next daily break or rest
current data, minimum time for the next break or rest
(this parameter shows how long the current break or rest should last)
remaining time of the current rest/break (during rest) or the next required rest/break - while driving
(this parameter is set to the minimum duration of the next daily rest period for driver 1)
current data, time remaining until the next driving period
(this parameter is set to the minimum time remaining until driver 1 starts the next driving period)
current data, maximum allowed duration of the next driving period
data for the day, remaining daily driving time
data for the day, time remaining until the daily rest period
(this is the time when the driver can work or drive - the driver must start resting before this time expires)
data for the day, duration of the next daily rest period
(this parameter is the minimum daily rest that driver 1 must take to fulfill the current or upcoming daily rest period)
data for the week, remaining weekly driving time
(this parameter is set to the maximum remaining driving time for driver 1 in the current week)
data for the week, time remaining until the weekly rest period
(this parameter is the time remaining until driver 1 starts a new weekly rest period)
data for the week, length of the next week's rest period

Advanced time counters are available from version 3.0 for VDO/Siemens/Continental tachographs, from version 7.6 for Stoneridge tachographs, and from version 4.8 for EFAS tachographs. The counter 'Data for the day, remaining daily driving time' is exclusively available in VDO/Siemens/Continental tachographs.

Extended time counters:

(available only for the driver whose card is inserted in slot 1 of the tachograph)

current daily driving time
(the total driving time today (incremental value))
current weekly driving time
(the total driving time this week (incremental value))
number of times the 9-hour daily driving time limit has been exceeded

Advanced dates:

(available only for the driver whose card is inserted in slot 1 of the tachograph)

end of the last daily rest period/start of the current working day
end of the last weekly rest period/start of the current week of work
end of the penultimate weekly rest period/start of the current two-week work period
